Here is a look back at what we did in our region last year, as we sought to advance the Programme of Action stemming from the landmark 1994 International Conference on Population and Development, or ICPD - the revolutionary framework that marked its 25th anniversary in 2019, whose vision of rights and choices for all complements and contributes to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals.

Last year, through an intense period of UN reform, UNDP worked hard to support the people of 170 countries and territories around the world to get on their feet and stay there. We continued to push the boundaries of how we think, deliver, invest and manage as #NextGenUNDP to deliver on our Strategic Plan, establishing UNDP’s financial stability and taking steps to make the organization nimbler and more responsive. Today, as we support the UN System and help countries to prepare, respond, and recover in the face of COVID-19, our investments are proving their worth.

Women and Sustainable Development Goals: Viet Nam towards 2030

The 2030 agenda sets out 17 goals and 169 targets. In addition to Goal 5 to "Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls", gender targets have been set for every goal, tackling the gender dimensions of poverty, hunger, health, education, water and sanitation, employment, safe cities and peace and security. This strong gender focus is a realization that achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls is key to achieving each and every one of the goals.

World Health Statistics 2016: Monitoring Health for the SDGs

World Health Statistics 2016 focuses on the proposed health and health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and associated targets. It represents an initial effort to bring together available data on SDG health and health-related indicators.

World Development Indicators 2016

- Released in
World Development Indicators will report on progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals, as it did with the Millennium Development Goals. The Sustainable Development Goals cover a broader range of issues, and this edition expands coverage in the World view section. For each of the 17 goals, key indicators have been selected to identify important trends and challenges and elicit discussion on measurement issues.

This snapshot aims to support discussions by policy makers on priorities in ASEAN region and actions required to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Ensure Universal Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Reproductive Rights

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Framework marks huge progress in addressing women’s reproductive rights. For the first time, an international development framework includes not only targets on sexual and reproductive health services but also targets that address the barriers and human rights-based dimensions of sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights, through SDG target 5.6. The target is measured by two indicators — Indicators 5.6.1 and 5.6.2.
