HIV/AIDS and ART Registry of the Philippines: January 2022

In January 2022, there were 874 confirmed HIV-positive individuals reported to the HIV/AIDS & ART Registry of the Philippines (HARP) and were accounted to the total (95,212) reported cases since January 1984. At the beginning of this year; immunologic and clinical criteria were considered in identifying cases with advanced HIV disease (AHD). Thirty percent (264) had advanced HIV infection (143 based on immunologic criterion, additional 121 based on clinical criteria).

In December 2021, there were 993 confirmed HIV-positive individuals reported to the HIV/AIDS & ART Registry of the Philippines (HARP) [Figure 1]. Fourteen percent (143) had clinical manifestations of advanced HIV infectionb at the time of testing .

In November 2021, there were 1,268a confirmed HIV-positive individuals reported to the HIV/AIDS & ART Registry of the Philippines (HARP) and were accounted to the total (93,364) reported cases since January 1984. Moreover, 18% (223) of individuals reported in November had clinical manifestations of advanced HIV infectionc at the time of testing. Ninety-six percent (1,211) of the reported cases were male. Of the total male cases, 2% (29) identified themselves as female (transgender women) and 26% (310) reported their gender-identitye as others at the time of testing.

Philippines HIV/AIDS Surveillance Technical Report 2003

The 2003 Technical Report provides the facts and figures gathered by the National HIV/AIDS Sentinel Surveillance System (NHSSS) from 1993. It includes data from the AIDS Registry, the Serologic Surveillance and the Behavioral Surveillance. This report also features the data from the newly setup Sentinel STI Etiologic Surveillance System.

Philippines HIV/AIDS Registry: February 2014

In February 2014, there were 486 new HIV Ab sero-positive individuals confirmed by the STD/AIDS Cooperative Central Laboratory (SACCL) and reported to the HIV and AIDS Registry (Table 1). This is 43% higher compared to the same period last year (n=339 in 2013) [Figure 1].

In October 2021, there were 1,136a confirmed HIV-positive individuals reported to the HIV/AIDS & ART Registry of the Philippines (HARP) and were accounted to the total (92,096) reported cases since January 1984. Moreover, 12% (133) of individuals reported in October had clinical manifestations of advanced HIV infection at the time of testing.

HIV/AIDS and ART Registry of the Philippines: September 2021

The first case of HIV infection in the Philippines was reported in 1984. Since then, there have been 90,960 confirmed HIV cases reported to the HARP. Ninety-four percent (85,578) of those diagnosed were male and 6% (5,371) were female. At the time of diagnosis, more than half (51%, 46,162) were 25-34 years old while 26,241 (29%) were youth (15-24 years old). The median age was 28 years old (age range: 1 month - 82 years). Thirteen percent (12,172) of the reported cases had clinical manifestations of advanced infection at the time of testing. Moreover, 67% (61,206) of the total diagnosed cases in the Philippines were reported from January 2016 to September 2021.

In August 2021, there was 878 confirmed HIV-positive individuals reported to HIV/AIDS & ART registry of the Philippines (HARP) and were accounted to the total (90,031) reported cases since January 1984. Moreover, 13% (110) of individuals reported in August had clinical manifestations of advanced HIV infection at the time of testing. Ninety-six percent (847) of the reported cases were male. Of the total male cases, 2% (21) reported their gender-identity as female (transgender women) at the time of testing.

HIV/AIDS and ART Registry of the Philippines: June 2013

In June 2013, there were 431 new HIV Ab sero-positive individuals confirmed by the STD/AIDS Cooperative Central Laboratory (SACCL) and reported to the HIV and AIDS Registry (Table 1). This is 46% higher compared to the same period last year (n=295 in 2012) and the highest number of cases reported in a month.

In July 2021, there were 1,045a confirmed HIV-positive individuals reported to the HIV/AIDS & ART Registry of the Philippines (HARP) and were accounted to the total (89,153) reported cases since January 1984. Moreover, 12% (129) of individuals reported in July had clinical manifestations of advanced HIV infection at the time of testing. Ninety-six percent (1,005) of the reported cases were male. Of the total male cases, 2% (20) reported their gender-identity as female (transgender women) at the time of testing.
