National AIDS Commission (KPA) - Indonesia

The first confirmed case of AIDS was identified in Indonesia 24 years ago (1987). Between 1987 and 1997 infection appeared to increase slowly. The response was modest and focused primarily in the health sector.

Indonesia, a country with a population of 237.5 million in 2010 has an estimated HIV prevalence of 0.27% among the 15-49 years age group (MoH, Mathematic Model of HIV Epidemic in Indonesia 2008-2014).

The National AIDS Spending Assessment (NASA) is a tool/ method that had been introduced by the UNAIDS Geneva to measure the commitment of a nation in combating a global epidemic disease such as HIV and AIDS.

This country report presents information specifically focused on achievements or the Government and civil society including people living with and affected by AIDS in Indonesia related to the Declaration of Commitment of UNGASS.

This report expresses not only the government’s point of view but also presents opinions and information from all stakeholders in the AIDS response. Various partners have been actively engaged in producing data used herein.
