Antiretroviral drugs and therapy (ART)

For this edition, the methods of collecting information on the sources and prices of antiretrovirals (ARVs) remain the same, but information is presented in a new, shorter format focusing on a few key drug.

The goal of this report is to provide countries and suppliers with a sense of how the global market for antiretroviral (ARV) medicines in low- and middle-income countries is likely to evolve from 2013 to 2016.

Access to appropriate antiretroviral therapy (ART) is vital to prevent HIV morbidity and mortality, and high ART coverage also promotes HIV prevention by lowering the amount of virus circulating in people within a particular setting or population.

Vietnam has a concentrated HIVepidemic, with the highest HIV prevalence being observed among people who inject drugs (PWID). Based on its experience scaling-up robust HIV interventions, Vietnam aims to further strengthen its response by harnessing the preventive benefits of antiretroviral therapy (ART).

This document is designed as a component in the response that is necessary to address the pressing care needs of person/people living with HIV/AIDS (PHA) in Cambodia. It is written primarily for health care workers who are involved in the care of adults and adolescents (>12 years of age) living with HIV/AIDS.

This report, building on the strengths of Khmer HIV/AIDS NGO Alliance (KHANA) and its partners, focuses on the current and future opportunities for KHANA, and other NGOs, to support access to ARV treatment for people with HIV.

UNICEF and WHO convened a meeting of technical experts to urgently identify ways and mechanisms to overcome the key obstacles to access of appropriate, acceptable, and affordable ARV formulations for children.

This document is written based on the experience of the Moung Russey Operational District in Battambang Province.

This publication summarizes existing evidence on the use of antiretroviral drugs for preventing mother-to child transmission of HIV and makes recommendations on the choice of regimens in the context of expanding access to antiretroviral treatment.

The aim of this bibliography is to provide representative examples of developing country’ experiences on the effectiveness and programmatic challenges for scaling up adult national antiretroviral treatment programmes.
