The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is supporting a human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention program, which is being implemented in conjunction with the Western Yunnan Roads Development Project (Baolong Highway) in the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

Treating AIDS is expensive, but not treating it—allowing it to spread even faster – may be even more so. In this way, too, the countries of Asia face an enormous challenge.

The aim of this study was to assess HIV vulnerabilities and access to HIV health-care services among key affected populations that live or work along the East-West Economic Corridor between Myawaddy and Kawkareik in Kayin State, Myanmar, as well the impact of economic development and increased interconnectivity on these factors.

The framework puts individuals and families at the center, supported by their communities and social networks. It comprises four main monitoring and evaluation (M&E) domains: inputs and processes, outputs, outcomes, and impacts. Additionally, the framework highlights key actors within the health sector and other sectors.

The Asia-Pacific Sustainable Development Goals Outlook report aims to develop a shared understanding of the opportunities and challenges confronting the region. This report provides a goal by goal snapshot of where we stand, including bright spots, hot spots and emerging issues for our region as we implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

This report presents some perspectives on the post-2015 development agenda as part of the system-wide discussion initiated by the Secretary-General. Being much less locked into traditional development pathways, Asia and the Pacific region has a clear window of opportunity to foster change. The perspectives and aspirations of this region for a new United Nations Development Agenda beyond 2015 should be of much interest to the global community.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the UNDP Asia-Pacific Regional Centre jointly convened this 2012 Consultation on the Memorandum of Understanding to Reduce HIV Vulnerability Associated with Population Movement, in order to formulate concrete national, bilateral and subregional activities to address the challenges faced by migrants and mobile populations in this area.

This report provides a regional perspective on the progress made by Pacific island countries (PICs) in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). It also discusses the implications of climate change, rising food and fuel prices, the 2008 financial crisis, and emerging trade agreements.
