Biography

Dr. Khan is an Infectious Diseases Specialist and a Public Health Researcher. He is currently the Director of Research and Development Solutions, a public health research and policy consultancy company; and an Advisor to the Federal Ministry of Health, Pakistan. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Preventive Medicine at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN, USA.

Dr. Khan works with national governments on evidence generation for policy and programs and has worked extensively on HIV and STI program design, policy, monitoring and evaluation with national governments of Pakistan, Qatar and Oman and with the WHO in the Middle East. In addition he has worked on strategic planning for injection safety, contraception strategy and the strategy for health research for the Ministry of Health, Pakistan. His research experience includes STI and HIV transmission, epidemiology and M&E of national epidemics and their control programs and health systems.

He is a member of the Science and Technology Advisory Group for the AIDS Data Hub for the Asia and the Pacific Region by the UNICEF, UNAIDS and the Asian Development Bank; Core Member of the UN Reference Group on HIV and Injection Drug Use, President of the Eastern and Eastern Mediterranean Network for STI Control (EMNOSTIC), a Member of the Advisory Group for, The Global Network of Researchers of HIV/AIDS in the Middle East and North Africa and Life Member of the Infectious Diseases Society of Pakistan.
